Icehawks Travel Ice Hockey Program
The Travel Program offers competitive teams at the Mite, Squirt, Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget levels. The age classifications for each team are determined by USA Hockey Guidelines, which are as follows:
The Icehawks are registered members of the Capital Beltway Hockey League (CBHL). Within the CBHL, there are several "levels" of play. The Travel Program typically plays at the "A"/"B" level. As A/B level teams, the Icehawk teams play a minimum of 20 league games and an unlimited number of non-league games. Typically, a Travel team will play between 30-40 games per season (often 2 per weekend) with 1-2 tournaments (depending upon the decision of the coaches, players and parents). Tryouts begin in late August and teams will practice twice per week for one hour. Other facts you should know about the Travel Program include:
The ESHA Travel teams are always competitive, as exemplified by the participation of the 2001/02 Squirt team in the divisional playoffs. For the 2002/03 season, the Midget team will play a reduced, non-CBHL schedule likely including 10 games with an end date of Thanksgiving. |
